Falling in love again-Ruskin bond-Book review

A cigarette that bears a lipstick’s traces

An airline ticket to romantic places,

And still my heart has wings,

Remind me of you.”

We human beings are vulnerable without stories, stories filled with agony, stories of love that escaped yesterday and flew into the blue. But we irrefutably without our knowing, crave for what we can not attain,It has always been like that, dreaming of the utopia.

Through our childhood days,we have been much familiar with stories like “The room on the roof”,”Our trees still grow in Dehradun.”Akin to the tales, the writer in its very simplicity, gained a place in our heart that can’t be occupied by anyone else.

Falling in love again”-The title is significant to the theme that has blossomed in this amalgamation of short stories.Even in the cover of this book, the painted butterflies reveal the characteristic of the book, the distinct shade of the feeling called ‘Love’,fleeting in motion, for some.

Simplicity and gentle words has always been the foundation of his stories. In this book,we witness stories of a love, that is for a succinct time, but the everlasting fragrance that it leaves on the heart of the author. His stories will somehow, desert you with an incomplete desire, but that’s how life is,this is a journey, not a happy ending to be reached.

Love is sad song”,”Time stops at Shamli”you discover the glories of the love gone, and the nostalgia that haunts a soul.A certain feeling of ‘more’ might evoke the reader’s mind, but it has always been his style,to leave you entangled in your thoughts.

I may stop loving you,but I will never stop loving the days I loved you.”

We love,we part and we bury those in the nightmares and soft light arising from the depth of our soul.

Stories like “On Fairy hill’ and ‘Banya passes by’ provides you with the beauty of the countryside and the mountains dappled in sunlight. There isn’t any cessation, for beauty and love plays hide and seek with each other and is concealed from our dreary eyes.

We made no promises-of writing,or of meeting again.Somehow our relationship seemed complete and whole,as though it had been destined to blossom for these two days.A courting and a marriage and a living together had been compressed, perfectly, into one summer night.”

The writer, here, showed the appreciation of the elements of nature, and linked them to the stories of love. Here,we can feel in every lines, his love for mountains, which are integral part of his stories. The language is lucid and uncomplicated, and can be read in one go.It isn’t any thriller,or suspense, but a soft breeze that touches your lips and flies away.

Such is love,it comes and go, sometimes swiftly as a shadow, short as any dream.

I will give this book=8.5/10.

A surprise for my readers, stay tuned to see what I am talking about. All I can utter is I am extremely eager to share the news with you.

Ruskin Bond is my favourite author and to an extent, the reason behind my blog and love for mountains as well.
There’s probably no book of his that I haven’t read and this one certainly ranks right up there with his best anthologies! And your review! You have written it in such alluring prose that I can’t help but go back and read the book again.
    Cheers & keep reading! πŸ™‚

P.S I was just wondering if you intentionally avoid spaces after punctuation marks like full stops and commas?
